Ep 62: How Captivate.fm Made Podcasting Easy for Lazy Girls

Have you found your podcast host to be lacking in features?

This is exactly the scenario I found myself in when I was with my previous podcasting host, Megaphone. I found that (for me) the interface wasn’t the best, and I found a lack in features to help grow my podcast.

So, in this episode, I talk about my decision and experience to switch my podcast hosting platform from Megaphone to Captivate.fm. I’ll go through the reasons why I decided that Megaphone wasn’t the podcast hosting platform for me and also why I decided to move over to Captivate.fm.

Scroll up and hit play to listen to this episode and pick up some podcasting tips that will help you if you’re on the fence about choosing either Megaphone or Captivate.fm as your podcast hosting service. You’ll also pick up podcasting tips about how to choose the podcast host that best suits your own podcast.

[00:00:01] Verity: Hello there and welcome back to another episode of the Lazy Girls Guide podcasting with me, Verity.

[00:00:07] Verity: It's really exciting.

[00:00:08] Verity: We're doing a tech Thursday episode.

[00:00:10] Verity: Haven't done a tech Thursday episode in a little while now, but I am, or I have rather just switched over to a new podcast host and I want to share that experience with you all and share my reasoning for why I switched over who I've switched over to how the experience looked, what features I get with my new podcast host that I wasn't getting before and I thought it would be an interesting report almost to do for tech Thursday.

[00:00:44] Verity: But we are now solidly into January and everything for the podcast I feel is just on point and everything is happening for 2024.

[00:00:56] Verity: I'm so excited for the Lazy Girls Guide to podcasting and where it goes in 2024.

[00:01:01] Verity: The stats that I've been looking at the last couple of weeks are just phenomenal.

[00:01:06] Verity: So thank you to everybody for your support for the podcast.

[00:01:11] Verity: It's really exciting to see the stats growing and also the conversations that I'm having with people in dms, mainly on Twitter, because we know that Slash X is where I mainly hang out, but also instagram.

[00:01:22] Verity: I'm having great conversations with people in the DMs.

[00:01:25] Verity: So thank you everybody who has reached out to say that they have enjoyed listening to an episode, or I've had a couple of people message me to say that they have shared the entire podcast with somebody else who is starting their own podcast.

[00:01:38] Verity: So if that is you, thank you so much.

[00:01:40] Verity: It really means a lot to have that support behind the show.

[00:01:46] Verity: And what's exciting is that I have finally decided what I'm doing for the Patreon for the Lazy Girls Guide to podcasting.

[00:01:57] Verity: If you've been a longtime listener of the show, you will remember I have mentioned setting up Patreon in the past, but then I kind of haven't spoken much more about it.

[00:02:07] Verity: And that's because I've wanted whatever I do with a membership or with a Patreon to really resonate with you guys as my listeners.

[00:02:18] Verity: So I felt that I didn't want to jump into something which is very unlike me.

[00:02:23] Verity: I'm very much action focused, think later kind of person.

[00:02:26] Verity: But to do a Patreon or a membership to me just needed to be absolutely right.

[00:02:34] Verity: So that when I launched it and put it out there, it resonated with you guys as my audience, and I feel like I've got there now.

[00:02:41] Verity: I feel like what I am going to launch for the Patreon is going to be really spot on.

[00:02:48] Verity: I'm really excited about it.

[00:02:50] Verity: I'm going to possibly do an extra episode just talking about that whole process and how I came to the decision of what to offer on the Patreon, how to create the Patreon, and the research that I had to do.

[00:03:04] Verity: So that will probably be a separate episode because as I said, I am talking about switching podcast hosts today, but I wanted to let you know that that is in the pipeline that will be launching soon in 2024.

[00:03:17] Verity: So make sure that you are subscribed to the show.

[00:03:21] Verity: If you are not already on whichever podcast app you are listening to or on YouTube, make sure you're subscribed so that the information when the Patreon drops is, you're the first to know about it, basically.
